Claudia Cole, Research Agent
Conscientious , thorough, persevering... Your research agent in libraries and archives of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

The century-old BC Legislative Buildings were once also the location of the BC Archives. The BC Legislative Library is still located inside the Buildings, open to the public when the Legislature is not in session.
Victoria, as the capital of the province of British Columbia, is home of the British Columbia Archives, repository of historical records, both government and private, related to all regions of British Columbia. The broad scope of this collection makes it useful to a wide range of researchers. The number one source in BC for historical research, this institution is also an essential source for tracing family lines. The vast majority of newspapers ever printed in the province are available on microfilm there, or at the Legislative Library in the building pictured here. - If you can't travel to Victoria, or you simply prefer to have someone else handle a portion of your research, I can do it for you. We will stay in touch by email as work progresses, allowing you to keep up-to-date on the direction research is taking.
- I assist heir-tracers, scholars and authors, family historians, genealogy hobbyists and professionals, the legal profession, and people hoping to contact lost family members or family branches.
-
- I can also:
- ...advise you on how you might manage some of your own research in British Columbia, from a distance
-
- ...help you find other repositories around the province that you might wish to contact directly, or I will contact them on your behalf.
I am experienced in using the always-increasing online resources in conjunction with local sources such as...
- British Columbia Archives
- public libraries
- libraries of the University of Victoria
- libraries of community colleges
- church, city, and municipal archives
- court registries
- government departments
- small special collections such as police archives and high school archives
- and repositories in nearby towns of southern Vancouver Island
